History

Twenty-five years ago the Faculty and Employee Assistance Program began with a .5 Licensed Clinical Social Worker hired into the UVAHS Department of Social Work. The EAP initially served the medical center and then later expanded to take care of the faculty and staff of the University. The name changed to FEAP to demonstrate faculty was included in the service catchment and we have not looked back since.

Growth and Expansion

FEAP now serves over 27,000 employees and their family members and more than 35 organizations in addition to the University and Medical Center. FEAP provides comprehensive EAP services such as assessment and brief counseling for those experiencing depression, anxiety, substance abuse and workplace concerns and we offer much more. FEAP has specialists in WorkLife Balance, Eldercare, Mindfulness, Coaching, Parenting, Couples, Positive Psychology. All of our consultants are licensed mental health providers in the Commonwealth of Virginia and most have the Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP) credential as well.

Quality and Professionalism

UVA FEAP is considered a top five EAP in the International Association of Employee Assistance Professionals in Higher Education (IAEAPE) with cutting edge programming for primary and vicarious trauma, EAP group work, transgender support and our Effective Coping and Communication interventions.
