Skillful Change and Transitions

Change is inevitable, yet leading teams through it – whether a new initiative, a shift in priorities, or organizational restructuring – often feels anything but easy.

This session introduces essential skills to navigate change and transitions mindfully by effectively managing your own responses to change while skillfully guiding yourself and your team through the process.  Drawing on the work of William Bridges’ Transition Model, we will explore the critical difference between change (external event) and transition (internal, psychological process).  Understanding the difference will equip you with the means to reduce resistance to change, foster resilience, and maintain momentum during periods of flux.

Learning Objectives

  1. Identify your personal and your team’s change styles.
  2. Understand the potential for resistance and growth in each stage of transition.
  3. Apply “inner work” practices to manage your own reactivity and foster a growth mindset.
  4. Utilize “outer work” strategies to communicate effectively and skillfully guide yourself and your team through change and transition.
