What it Means to Matter

Join us for this reward-eligible webinar, which is part of the monthly series of emotional well-being webinars offered by FEAP and Hoos Well, UVA's award-winning employee well-being program.

Mattering is prominent in our collective discourse right now. While it may be challenging to express exactly what it means to matter, almost everyone immediately understands it conveys a message about having value.  From an academic perspective, mattering is the psychological state of knowing that you impact the lives of others and have significance in the world around you.  This webinar will discuss the construct of mattering, it's impact on our wellbeing, and explore how it is often the little things that make the biggest difference.

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this program, participants will be able to

  1. Define mattering
  2. Explain how mattering impacts our well-being
  3. Discuss the impact of small interactions on individual mattering
